My previous post was satirical...

This one isn't but the two say the same thing...simply amazing.

"'Rush, are you kidding, this theory of yours about Sanford?' No, I'm not. My first thought was he said: 'To hell with this. The Democrats are destroying the country. We can't do anything to stop it. I gave everything I had to stop it here in South Carolina. My wife's left me, the hell with it. I'm going to enjoy life what little time I've got left.' Folks, there are a lot of people that are looking at life, they're saying screw it. They're saying screw it. Before Obama takes away all their money, before Obama takes away their house or the economy takes away their house, there are people who are simply saying the hell with this. They've tuned out. I'm just going to try to enjoy it as much as I can." -- Rush Limbaugh

http://www.drudge.com/news/122465/limbaugh-sanfords-infidelity-obamas

Limbaugh and all the blowhard right wingers preach many many things.....one of the things they claim to "stand on" is personal responsibility. This is not true. They basically stand on one and only one thing and that of irrationality. They ARE the theistic party. The party of bullshit.

It is always someone else's fault. It was Adam's fault. It was Sanford's Wife's fault, it was Obama's fault that Sanford cheated. Don't dare blame Bush for where we are today. It isn't their fault. It doesn't nor does it have to make sense...these people are joyfully immune to logic or reason. Whatever makes them feel better, helps them get over or removes blame and guilt is what they will beleive.

Gay Marriage strikes again.

Traditional Marriage and its defenders have taken a beating in recent weeks. The relentless assault by gay marriage advocates have brought down Senators, Governors,  Husbands and Fathers. No one heeded their warnings and now it is too late for some.

John Ensign, (R) Nevada, righteous defender of Traditional Marriage has succumbed to the pressure.

"Marriage is the cornerstone on which our society was founded…Marriage, as a social institution, predates every other institution on which ordered society in America has relied… It is not right to mold marriage to fit the desires of a few, against the wishes of so many, and to ignore the important role of marriage."

When Iowa legalized Gay Marriage...

The foundation of Ensign's Marriage was removed and thus there was little surprise that it collapsed upon itself. Had people listened to Ensign and amended the Constitution to define marriage as between a man and a woman the sanctity of Ensign's marriage would have been preserved. By refusing to listen,  the American people destroyed  Ensign's Marriage and he was forced to sleep with a staffers wife. All of our marriages are now in peril. Ensign was simply a casualty, a fallen warrior, a martyr. He is not the only victim...

Mark Sanford, Gov S.C. fought diligently to uphold traditional marriage. He even took the fight to the enemies of marriage and fought it at its source, same sex civil unions. Last week when Obama pledged to give benefits to same sex partners Sanford's tried to do the sensible thing and hike the Appalachian Trail in the nude but everyone knew he had little choice but to fly to Buenos Aries and cheat on his wife. Bravely, He asked the people there not to cry for him. It wasn't his fault....he had defended Marriage to the best of his ability but the Gay Marriage machine was just too strong.

Whose marriage will the selfish Same Sex Marriage lobby destroy next? When will this end.

Usa_spain_1

USA 2 Spain 0

I love Soccer...

The US just beat the #1 ranked team in the world (Spain) in the semis of the FIFA Confederation cup. This was a bigger upset than had the Spanish beat the US in Basketball in the Olympics last summer. The Spanish have several multimillion dollar NBA Stars and Pau Gasol is the second best player on the NBA champion Lakers and Rubio will be taken 2 or 3rd in the NBA draft.

Spain had won its last 15 games, hadn't lost in 35 (2 and 1/2 years) and hadn't been scored on in close to 500 mins. El Streako es el overo.

The US got torched by Italy 3-1 and Brazil 3-0 in the first two games and looked pathetic. I was watching the ticker on Sunday during the Open when the it said, Brazil and USA advance? I thought it was a typo....figured they were done.

In the third game..the US beat Egypt 3-0 and Brazil trounced Italy 3-0. Which is exactly what was needed. This is like a team coming back from 8 runs in the bottom of the 9th in baseball...twice. So by a miracle the US got to go and get slaughtered by Spain..the best team in the world...hopefully they would lose with pride.

I followed the first half via the internet. They had people blogging....updated every 30 seconds. Imagination at it's finest. The US was hanging tough and actually went ahead 1-0 in the 27th minute and it stayed that way till halftime. I went to lunch to watch the rest and it was like a shooting gallery for Spain...shot, after shot after, save, after shot...they peppered the US. But that is why soccer is so great..the best team doesn't always win...heart and luck play their parts....The US even countered a few times and got another goals in the second.

Great coaching....they gave the Spanish the flanks let them cross as many balls in as they wanted. We have big ole 6-4 brutes

in the middle so it played into our strength. Too bad for Spain that Pau Gasol wasn't their striker.

The Ref tried to help the Spanish by throwing one of our guys out of the game for something that wasn't even a foul much less a red card giving the Spanish a man advantage for the last 15 mins. The US always gets jobbed by the refs in competition. I wish someone would let them know that Obama is president now and the dickhead is gone already. They have thrown 4 of our guys out for questionable shit already...playing Brasil or Italy is tough enough with 11 guys....with 9...impossible.

Brazil will prolly smoke us but...ya never know. The best team doesn't always win.

I have no idea why dude is wasting all this time posturing, shaking his nuclear phallus and stirring up trouble when he could just have came over to Long Island this past weekend and won the open @ 148 under.

Honestly, I would have bowed down and worshiped him like the god he claims to be. 11 hole in ones ??? In his first round ever picking up the sticks? This wasn't an executive either...it was 7,000 yrds.

But gods work in mysterious ways I guess. Something about blood, bombs and Phallic Missiles seem to get them off. 600 yrd hole in ones are a yawn.

The Iranians are rioting for good measure but the N. Koreans shoulda gone Laker fan on roids and burnt Pyongyang to the ground when the government had the nerve to actually print Il's Ill score of -38 in the National Newspapers. Perhaps people don't read the papers there either?

Speaking of newspapers...

Harvard

I love the human interest stories that make the LA Times. This Sunday's edition had the story of Khadijah Williams who was homeless and grew up on skid row and moved from shelter to shelter. She only finished 1/2 of 4rth grade, 1/2 of 5th, skipped 6th and went to two weeks of 8th grade. By the 11th grade she had had enough and was going to school no matter what...or where her mom went. She lived in an armory in OC and commuted @ 4 am and returned @ 11PM every night.

She wanted no special treatment cuz she was homeless...

Williams is attending Harvard on a full scholarship in the Fall after finishing with a 4.0 and 4rth in her class.

I am reading this book and it is what I suspected....you chose to quit and you quit or you chose not to quit and accept the consequences of your actions. Simple really. You cannot blame anyone or anything except yourself for your actions. You take responsibility.

This is very much like dieting. You want to lose weight? You exercise more, eat less. It isn't easy but it is what it is. People many times don't like to hear the rational since reality is tough so they gravitate to the fads and quick fixes and the irrational. Thus you have people making millions selling the banana diet, the grapefruit diet, Atkins, pills dat kills, etc. which is essentially selling bullshit and in the long run it makes you fatter.

Much of the introduction basically lays out the fraud that is the AA or 12 step programs.

The 12 step programs are basically religion pedaling horseshit and not surprisingly don't work. The 12 step programs are worse than a placebo treatment and quite similar to the fad diets in that they make things worse in the long run.

1. We admit  we are powerless over alcohol (drugs)-that our lives have become unmanageable.

I have always had a suspicion that the term "alcoholic" is bullshit and the listing of it as a disease is also incorrect. It is simply an excuse and a justification for drinking and it makes family members and society accept this behavior as these people are "powerless" to do otherwise. What a wonderful thing for an abuser. To have the burden of responsibility taken from them.

The next steps are simply religious hocus pocus.

2. Came to believe that a Power greater than ourselves could restore us to sanity

3.  Made a decision to turn our will and our lives over to the care of God as we understood God

4. Made a searching and fearless moral inventory of ourselves

5. Admitted to God, to ourselves and to another human being the exact nature of our wrongs

6. Were entirely ready to have God remove all these defects of character

7. Humbly asked God to remove our shortcomings

It is all up to God. Only God can heal you, blah blah blah...

8. Made a list of all persons we had harmed, and became willing to make amends to them all

9. Made direct amends to such people wherever possible, except when to do so would injure them or others

More religion, confessionals, ask for forgiveness, do 10 Hail Mary's....

10. Continued to take personal inventory and when we were wrong promptly admitted it

11. Sought through prayer and meditation to improve our conscious contact with God as we understood God, praying only for knowledge of God's will for us and the power to carry that out

Reaffirms only religion can help...

12. Having had a spiritual awakening as the result of these steps, we tried to carry this message to other addicts, and to practice these principles in all our affairs

Now go prosthelytize.

The results of the 12 step programs are dismal at best with 95% of participants dropping out after one year. 20% of abusers eventually quit and 77-82% of those do it with no help at all. They just quit which is all you can do.

93%-97% of drug treatment programs in the US are the religious based AA and 12 step programs that facts show don't work. They do work at perpetuating themselves which seems to be the only real purpose of these programs. They are in essence a church.

Participants in the 12 step program must accept that it isn't their fault they drink, that only God can heal them and that they will forever be afflicted with the 'disease". Failure is expected. There is jargon to explain and excuse the failure because failure is normal....relapse, triggers, enablers, etc...because you are never cured. The 12 Step counts on you not really doing what is needed (stopping drinking for good) because they need you for them to exist. To attend meetings you must only have a desire to quit drinking. You don't have to quit, you must just have a desire to quit.

The 12 step is quite simply a fraud.
